You can think of it as a sort of fashion week for interior design. We get to see all the latest designs and talk to all the other designers from around the world. It’s the best way to stay up to date on trends and products that fit all of our New England client’s needs! Plus, we get to touch, feel and sit on it all so that we can advise you of what’s the best purchase for you. AND of course we can’t keep all this information to ourselves. SO here are the top 5 trends that we saw and will continue to see throughout 2022!

Some of these trends are easy to incorporate within your home, which is GREAT because nobody wants to constantly change their home decor to keep up with what’s trending. SO… let’s get right to it!

1. MUTED EARTH TONES
Color is still a big trend. BUT… colors always change right?? So this year we are seeing a lot of terra-cotta, rust, soft greens, and taupe! No more gray. I’ll say it one more time for those of you in the back – NO MORE GRAY! Most of the colors are softer, more earthy and relaxing. Blues and blush colors are still here and there but the main themes we saw at Market were the colors shown in the images above and below!! This is great for all my plant lovers out there, as the green from the plant and the clay terra-cotta pots are IT for this year!

2. NEUTRALS WITH NATURAL WOOD
Going off of the muted, earthy tones… NEUTRALS with NATURAL woods are something that we kept seeing at Market. This was seen both in furniture, cabinets, and in decor. The chair in the picture below of the left, really captures that natural wood feel with the neutral colors of the cushions, throw pillows and the area rug. With this we are also seeing light wood. In the past we saw lots of dark or warm tones woods, but light airy toned natural woods are IN. This bar shown to the right below, is one of the many pieces of furniture that we saw with that light, neutral colored and/or washed natural wood.

3. TEXTURE
Boucle and sherpa!! What the heck do I mean by that?? Well boucle is that looped yarn material that can be used on upholstered furniture or pillows. It can have big loops or small loops AND often brings in that warm cozy vibe. The sherpa definitely adds to that warm cozy vibe! Sherpa is that soft and fluffy fabric that has also been popping up on jackets.

4. BLACK
I always say this but… black NEVER goes out of style! It’s timeless! BUT we are seeing it being used boldly! Huge black walls, large black pieces of furniture, or large black pieces of artwork. It adds great contrast that is just stunning. AND as you can see in the picture below, the black paint on the walls can actually reflect light really well. Did you know that I actually painted my own living room black? I did. And it’s awesome!

5. WHIMSY
Whimsical, magical, artsy and sometimes just a bit odd! We are seeing all of that this year. We love bringing some personality into our clients homes and this whimsy theme allows us to do just that!! There are soooo many options for whimsical artwork, fun wallpapers, and unique furniture designs. It really allows for us designers to have maximum fun and bring some life into our clients home. Spice things up a bit!
