10 Easy Ways to Create a Fabulous Front Door!

Simple Ways to Welcome Guests with Pride

It’s summertime and most of us are spending more time outside. Yay!!!
But…
Does this sound familiar?
You want to invite your friends and family over for a cookout or barbecue but your yard is totally embarrassing. Your scratched front door is a 90s shade of green and that’s definitely now how you want to greet friends and family!
Don’t worry!
This is the first in a 4 part series to create fabulous outdoor spaces at your home.
This week I have 10 easy ways to create an awesome front door area so you’ll be begging people to come visit just to show it off!

  1. Give it a fresh coat of paint that goes with your house’s exterior.
Psst, if you’re not sure what that is you can always book a Color Consulthttps://details.mydomastudio.com/store/Consultations
Or, you can pick one from our FREE eBook 22 Foolproof Paint Colors – So You Can Avoid the Do-Over! https://www.detailsfullserviceinteriors.com/interior-design-tip-sheets
But, choose something fun and bold! Why not? It’s only paint. You can always paint it again, right?

  1. Personalize your front door with a fun word.
    I’ve seen “Hello” or “Welcome”.
You can either paint it yourself or they have decals, like this one by LucyLews, on etsy.com

  1. Add a wreath
Wreaths aren’t just for the holidays.
You can add one with flowers or even just leaves, like magnolia leaves. They soften up the hard edges of the door and add some color and texture. I love TwoInspireYou’s wreaths on etsy.com!

  1. Add garland
Garland isn’t just for the holidays either.
You can add a floral or leaf garland up around the top of the door. Like a wreath, it adds, texture, color and interest. Like the one below made from magnolia leaves.

  1. Swap out the hardware
It’s true, gold is back! Can you believe it! It is! Swapping out your hardware for gold hardware gives your front door an update and some bling. It makes it fresh and fun. I’m in love with the one below from Emtek!

  1. Add a doorknocker
You can add some personality to your front door with a doorknocker. There are some really fun ones out there! Find one that speaks to your personality and pop it on there.

  1. Add a kick plate
Adding a kick plate adds some class to the front door, don’t you think? It also adds some bling whether you choose gold or silver. Choose the one that matches your hardware.

  1. Add new house numbers
There are some really cool house numbers to choose from out there too. Choose a modern set to update the front of your home. There are some great ideas for signs you can make out of house numbers on Pinterest. You can find tons of different number styles right at Home Depot or Lowes, or online. The ones below are from Amazon.

  1. Swap out your lights
When was the last time you looked at your exterior lights?
They too have come a long way. No longer do you have to pick either the lantern style or the jelly jar style. Pick one that goes with your home, whether it’s modern, rustic or traditional. It’ll give your front door some added personality.

  1. Add a sign
I recently went to a local workshop at a place called Board & Brush. But, there are other local workshop places. Look in your local area. You can make signs with your family name or your house numbers, whatever goes with your family’s style and taste.
