How much did that room cost? Tropical Bedroom

Renovating a room in your home is an investment and we always want you spending your money wisely. How do you budget and spend wisely on your remodel? By being educated and informed about what goes into a fully designed room. And that’s what this blog is about. Prices do vary around the country. I’m sharing what I spent on my own primary bedroom refresh here in the woods of western Massachusetts.

At the end of every Interior Design Consultation we have a budget worksheet that we go over with clients. Because we’ve found that while people have an investment level in mind, they don’t really factor in everything that needs to go into a space to get that complete, comfortable look. We pull out the sheet and we circle all of the items that we’ve talked about putting into their space. And then we add it up. Most of the time people are surprised. Most people have put a room together but they’ve done it over a period of months or years. They’ve probably spent what we’re proposing, or more, but again, over time. Try this. Go into your bedroom and add up EVERYthing in it, every piece of furniture, every accessory, every pillow, every lamp, ALL of it. I bet it’s way more than you think you spent on the room!

But, have you ever looked at the pretty pictures of a designer’s project and wondered what it cost? I’m spilling the beans today! I always say to my clients that we like to keep it all out in the open. So here we are opening up about the investment in my own bedroom. Let’s GO.

Was it more than you thought it would be?
What surprised you?

Of course some of you are going to say that I could have saved money in certain areas. Of course I could have. BUT this room is our sanctuary. It’s a place that calms and relaxes us. And it was worth every penny!
