Details Full Service Interior Design In MA - Working On Your Home

No, as an interior designer, working on your home –

I’m not saving any lives.

I’m not curing cancer.

I’m not serving my country.

I’m not teaching children.

But, as an interior designer, working on your home, –

I am changing lives.

I am making people’s lives better.

I am making people’s lives easier.

I am making people’s lives more comfortable.

As an interior designer, working on your home –

I am saving people time.

I am saving people money.

I am saving people aggravation.

As an interior designer, working on your home –

I am making people feel safe.

I am making people feel comfortable.

I am making people feel less stressed.

I am making people feel loved.

I am making people feel at peace at home.

As an interior designer, working on your home –

I am creating homes that people make memories in.

And, I am passionate about it.

There’s a reason for that.

Warning, I’m getting personal here.

When I was little, my parents got divorced.  My mom, my sister and I moved to another state. We couldn’t afford much, so my mom rented a beach house. Now I know that that doesn’t sound rough, but we had to move out whenever the homeowners wanted to stay at the beach. So every summer we moved. We stayed with friends or wherever was available.

We didn’t have a permanent home.

Years later my husband and I bought a 200-year-old farmhouse. It was in bad shape. It needed a lot of work, which we couldn’t afford to do. There were bugs and snakes. There was very little insulation, making it really hot in the summer and so cold in the winter.  It smelled. I hated it! But, it was a great investment, my husband kept reminding me. Did I mention I hated it?

We ended up saving our money and building the home we live in now.

In the end it has worked out. But, these experiences have made me passionate about HOME. They have made me realize how important it is to have a home where you feel safe, comfortable, loved and at peace. Your home should be that place. Walking through your front door should feel like a warm hug.

So no, interior design isn’t a profession that seems super important, but it actually is! Everyone deserves to feel safe, comfortable and loved.

HOME is the place for that.

  1. Thanks for sharing such an amazing story of hardship you’ve overcome, Wendy! Those of us who had to move a lot now how important a feeling of Home is. And Home Needs to be Comfortable, safe, and healthy for us all.

  2. Hugs, Wendy. I love your passion for creating a beautiful home, something so many take for granted. I was homeless as well for a bit when I was 12. Perhaps that inspired both of us to understand what a home needs to FEEL like, not just be.
