NEXT STEP TO A COMFORTING HOME

How to Make Your Home Your Place of Peace

So I’m finally getting back to this comforting home post.
I said before that the next step to creating a home that feels peaceful and comforting is to choose a color scheme that you love.
What colors make you feel at peace?
What colors make you feel comforted?
What colors calm you?
What colors make you feel happy and at home?
Then those are the colors that should be in your home!
Duh! 😉
It really shouldn’t matter what the trendy color is, what’s the ‘in’ color scheme.
Just like I always say #DecorateWithWhatMakesYouHappy
BUT, there is a way to make the colors you love up to date and on trend.
If your color choice is beige, but gray is the trendy color, you just need to choose a beige that has some gray in it, instead of a yellowy beige.

Choose Benjamin Moore Revere Pewter,

instead of Benjamin Moore Shaker Beige

Can you see the difference?
See how the Shaker beige has more yellow in it and Revere Pewter is more gray?
That’s how you go with the color you like, beige, but go with an updated version of it to keep it fresh and new.

And it works with every color scheme.
Remember back in the 90s when beige was the king neutral, and bold was the way to go?
In the 90s you used beige and the colors you paired with it had that same yellow undertone.
You used green and burgundy for bold pops of color.
They went well with the yellow undertone in the beige.

Now gray is the king of neutral and the colors you choose to go with it should have that undertone of gray in them.  Color schemes have gotten much more soothing and comforting.
Choose a dusty lavender, like Benjamin Moore Sleepy Hollow and a teal for your green, like Benjamin Moore Caribbean Teal.
See how this color palette on top (90s) is more bold with the yellow undertone?
See how the color palette on the bottom (current) is more serene, calming and gray?
