10 Unexpected Things You Can Hang on Your Walls Today

No More Blank Walls!

1. Letters – You can find wood, metal, paper, all kinds of letters almost anywhere these days, Walmart, HomeGoods, Pottery Barn, flea markets etc. The list goes on and on. A fun idea is to spell out any word you like on your wall. You can spell EAT in your kitchen or dining room. Spell out SLEEP in a guest room. Spell out RELAX in your family room. Spell out HI in your mudroom.

2. Maps – Frame a map of somewhere you’ve been or your home town or state.

3. Kid’s Art – Pop your kid’s artwork into a frame and suddenly it’s even more awesome! You can get these from Hearthsong and swap them out periodically.

4. Greeting Cards – If you have some greeting cards that you have saved because you love them, why not frame them and group them together on the wall? This is an easy one because most greeting cards will fit in photo frames.

5. Book Pages – If you have a favorite portion of a book you can frame those pages and hang them in a grouping on your wall.

6. Flat(ish) Baskets – Baskets that aren’t too deep can easily be hung on the wall. Make a group of them for some texture and interest in your space. Tobacco baskets like the one below can easily be found at flea markets.

7. Trays – You can find great vintage trays at flea markets and thrift stores. A few of them hung in a group on the wall are great.

8. Plates – A simple line of plates hung on the wall can be really pretty. You can find plate hangers at any hardware store.

9. Blankets or Rugs – A rug or blanket hung on your wall can be a gorgeous statement piece. Hang it over your sofa or in your foyer. The easiest way to hang one is to attach it to a board and hang the board on the wall.

10. Mirrors – Mirrors add great sparkle to any room. They also add light if you hang them adjacent, and not across from, a window, so they can bounce the light around a room.

Ok, no excuses for an empty wall now!
