Pretty & Practical Modern Family Room
This Wilbraham, Massachusetts family has two dogs, two young kids and a busy life.
Their family room was in desperate need of a makeover, but it needed to be comfortable, kid friendly and dog friendly. And, it needed to be a cozy place to
watch tv and hang out with family and friends.
But, the homeowner didn’t have any specific design style or wants.
The kids wanted a place to play and watch tv.
The husband wanted a comfortable sofa to lounge on.
The wife wanted a cozy spot to hang out with their family and friends.
And the two bulldogs just wanted to sleep somewhere fashionable, at least that’s what they told me.
This modern, updated family room got a huge, comfortable sofa in a performance fabric that’s perfect for a family with dogs and kids.
The room also includes a large, durable, easy to clean area rug, big enough for kids and dogs to lounge on and even has a round, reclaimed wood coffee table which is a nod to the modern farmhouse look that the clients love.
We added a couple of fun end tables for a place to put your drink down, using black and gold to tie in with the kitchen table.
Speaking of kitchen table, yup we added a new contemporary kitchen table and updated, farmhouse style chairs too.
We went with black to go with the existing industrial style lighting. The table even has a metal top that goes with the lighting and the family room tables. The metal finish is also super durable, easily wipeable and kid friendly.
The leather chairs are also perfect for kid friendly wipeablity, but they’re comfortable and look fabulous too!
The result?
A comfortable, practical, modern family room that’s perfect for mom, dad, the kids and the dogs!
