Modern Life in the Woods
This Monson family was in desperate need of an updated living room, now that the kids are grown. They had chosen their new, dark hardwood floors, but they had no idea where to go from there. Where do you buy good quality furniture in Western Mass? What size area rug should they add? Should they swap out their window treatments? And, what should they do about their lighting? How do you get an updated living room that is comfortable, updated and your style? They did know that they wanted their antique hutch, with their clown collection, and piano to stay. Everything else would go.
While their house is in a wooded, rural area, it is a contemporary style house. Because of the existing pieces, the setting and the style of the house we got to work choosing a great mix of furnishings, decor & window treatments. We chose a modern area rug and occasional tables. We then chose transitional fabric for the custom 12′ draperies and the custom sofa and chairs. Finally, we added in our signature, personalized accessories (did I mention that they collect clowns?), creating a brand new living room that this homeowner enjoys hanging out in.
