Find Bargain Home Accessories - Interior Design In Western MA

The Best Places to Find Bargain Home Accessories

Where do I shop for bargains?

Obviously I love to shop.

If I didn’t I’d have to choose another job!

And interior designers get great deals from sources that sell to the trade only.

But I can’t find everything at those places.

So, where are my favorite places to shop for inexpensive home

accessories that you can shop at too?

Flea Markerts and Tag Sales
Flea Markerts and Tag Sales

First of all I LOVE flea markets and tag sales!

You can find great, inexpensive, unique, fun stuff.

But, you have to be patient and willing to trudge through and search.

I once got 2 heavy, stainless steel, counter stools for $20 at the flea market.

The trick at flea markets for finding bargains is to look in booths that aren’t specializing in the item you’re looking for.

If you want an inexpensive chair you can redo, look in a booth that doesn’t have 30 chairs.

Find that booth with an eclectic mix and a chair or two hidden in the back. Usually they’re willing to get rid of it for cheap.

(Flea market tips are for another blog though)

There are some great Facebook pages now for local online tag sales and swaps.

Second, I love HomeGoods, Marshalls & TJMaxx.

I do know other designers that look down on them but I love them for unique, inexpensive accessories!

And that clearance aisle!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you get overwhelmed at HomeGoods, take a deep breath, and slowly and methodically go up and down each aisle, looking up and down the shelves.

If you see something you absolutely love – BUY it!

If you’re looking for something specific, that’s easy, go up and down each aisle looking for that item and don’t compromise on something similar just because it’s cheaper. Be patient. You’ll find it.

And you can always ask an employee if they have the item you’re looking for.

They always have tons of merchandise out back that the haven’t put out yet.

They get new shipments 3 times a week.

Third, I love Pier 1 Imports.

I especially love their clearance sections and floor model sales!

That’s another overwhelming store.

I usually walk the entire store at least 3 times each visit.

Their employees are usually very helpful as well.

Fourth, furniture stores are great places to shop for accessories.

All those floor accessories are for sale!

Wander through Raymour & Flanigan or even Bob’s.

They have really pretty lamps and vases, etc. right there mixed into those room displays.

Fifth, Country Curtains

Yes, Country Curtains.

They have really nice accessories, artwork, even candles, sprinkled throughout their window displays.

Sixth, Etsy.com

I love etsy.com for anything handmade.

You can find unbelievable craftsmanship and really unique products.

Be sure to read the reviews and if you’re unsure of a seller send them a message and see how they respond.

I’ve had great luck with sellers customizing items and really bending over backward to work with me.

Houzz.com

And Seventh, Houzz.com

While houzz.com is a website to search for awesome home improvement ideas.

You can also shop thousands of websites right from the Houzz!

So go to the site, look around, get inspired.

And then click on Shop to find tons of great home accessories.

I can also tell you a couple of places I don’t like for home accessories.

I don’t like Amazon.

Unless you’re buying a brand you know, half the time it’s not what is pictured and it’s a cheap import from China.

I’m also not usually thrilled with Target, unless it’s on sale or clearance.

I LOVE Target, generally, just not for home accessories for Interior Design in Western MA.

I don’t think when it comes to home accessories you get what you pay for. I think they’re overpriced for their quality.
